THE PROBLEM
The market leading wind turbine manufacturer was struggling with the time consuming and costly task of drilling holes in fibreglass wings.
The drilling process for each hole was far too long and the surface quality was unacceptable.
THE SOLUTION
Our expert team analysed the problem and the current processes. Within a short period of time, and in close cooperation with the manufacturer, we came up with the design of three new special tools.
The cooperation is still an ongoing process where we continuously improve and optimise the tools together with the surrounding processes.
THE RESULT
The result was a much faster solution with a smoother hole surface, which made the next steps in the manufacturing process up to 50% faster than before.
This is now a proven and running solution at the customer’s global manufacturing sites.
