KYOCERA'S
MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY

Read more about Kyocera's management philosophy as it was written and applied
by Kyocera's founder, Dr. Inamori – and is now practised successfully in more than
300 Kyocera companies worldwide.

A management philosophy with roots in Japan

Kyocera Unimerco has been part of the Kyocera Corporation since 2011. The transition from employee-owned company to being part of a Japanese conglomerate was very successful. This was particularly due to the values and culture of the Unimerco and Kyocera being a great match for each other.

Dr. Kazuo Inamori founded the Kyocera Corporation, leading the company according to a very clear management philosophy - the Kyocera Philosophy.

Back when the Kyocera Corporation was founded in 1959, Dr. Inamori realised the power of mutual trust. He wanted to run a company based on close teamwork between employees, management and owners. Almost like a family sharing the joys and sorrows of life with each other, basing their lives on deep respect for each other, society and nature.

The essence

The essense of the Kyocera Philosophy is expressed in our corporate motto:

‘Respect the Divine and Love People’

You can also read more about the origins of the Kyocera Philosophy and Dr. Inamori on the Kyocera Corporation website.

Do what is right as a human being

One of the key elements of the Kyocera Philosophy is that decisions, actions and considerations must be based on 'doing the right thing as a human being'.

The concept is simple and ensures that the colleagues you meet and the decisions we take are all built on a shared foundation of decency, common sense and respect.

Management by all

Kyocera's Philosophy is based on the principle of 'management by all', so that everyone has the opportunity for and is encouraged to take responsibility. If we do so, we are more likely to succeed, creating results and good jobs with scope for development.

We ensure that everyone is involved by respecting each other and our respective functions. This is the basis for open and effective communication and the exchange of opinions and sharing of knowledge – across the entire organisation.

We also share the company's goals with our colleagues – so that everyone can work on a concerted basis. We want everyone to be aware of our day-to-day sales figures, our earnings, plans, organisational changes, etc., to ensure we all know the status of the company.

Formula for success according to Dr. Inamori.

The Kyocera formular for Succes

Dr. Inamori discovered early on as a manager that values and attitudes were the difference between success or failure – according to whether attitude was good or bad. This was 'part of the formula' in Kyocera's first years.

According to the Kyocera Philosophy, the results of our (working) life depend on three factors: values (approach and attitude), dedication (effort and enthusiasm) and ability (skills). The philosophy is that our (good) values determine whether our dedication and ability yield good results – including in interaction with others.

We also use this formula as a sound basis for our recruitment, in performance review interviews and the like. You can read more about our philosophy by clicking below.
