NEW KGZ SERIES FOR SMALL PARTS MACHINING

Powerful and precise solution especially for Swiss machining

The process-reliable KGZ series from Kyocera for small part machining is a comprehensive line-up of tool holders and inserts developed specifically for automatic lathes - also known as Swiss-machining. All holders in the KGZ series feature a newly developed design with a unique clamping mechanism that ensures strong clamping of the insert in many applications and feed rates. The series is specially developed for grooving and cut-off small parts but can also easily be used for axial and longitudinal turning.

The newly developed and robust design of the KGZ series makes it particularly suitable for combining efficiency and productivity with minimised process time and better economy. Holders in the series are available in a wide range of designs with shank diameters from 10×10 - 25×25, and holders with internal coolant supply (JCTM) that ensure proper coolant/lubricant supply directly in the cutting zone are also an option. With optimal cooling directly in the cutting zone, you can choose to increase the speed of the CNC machine and significantly shorten the process time or normalise the feed rate and give your tool a significantly longer tool life.

Easy and quick insert replacement

The design of the KGZ solutions makes changing inserts quick and easy to maintain productivity. When a new insert is mounted in the holder, it is automatically centred in position via a V-shaped profile at the top and bottom of the insert, while supporting the rear edge of the insert for the best stability across five surfaces. When the clamping mechanism in the holder is tightened, the insert is pulled down and back into the tool holder. This ensures a robust and strong clamping of the insert, making KGZ stable - even when producing beautiful surfaces with high chip volume and high efficiency!

Developed specifically for small and smaller parts, the inserts are available in widths from 1.3 - 3 mm. All inserts in the series are reversible with 2 cutting edges and have an extraordinary long lifetime with Kyocera's new PR20 coating technology compared to conventional coating types.

Chipbreakers for safe processes

For this series of cutting tools, there are 4 different chipbreaker designs in different qualities. The PF, PM, PH and PG chipbreakers are designed to cover applications from rom low-medium feed up to high feed machining of a wide range of materials such as steel, stainless steel and cast iron - but also aluminium alloys.

Short chips

With Kyocera's intelligent chipbreaker designs, your process runs smoothly and safely, and chips are efficiently evacuated from the cutting zone when operating with low cutting forces all the way to the centre. The chipbreakers ensure short, broken chips, making the KGZ series an unrivalled solution for automated production line processes where anti-vibration design, chip control and durability are key. At the same time, you get beautiful surfaces all the way to the centre of the workpiece, as well as predictable and long tool life.

New PR20 series

Kyocera launches a new MEGACOAT NANO EX coating technology for the KGZ inserts - PR20 series. This new and highly durable coating, consisting of several thin layers with different properties, is applied to the unique carbide substrate, which together form a heat-resistant cutting edge with high wear and fracture resistance. This unique composition makes the inserts usable in many applications and at the same time ensures an extraordinarily long tool life and thus an increased bottom line.
